Supreme Court

If you are getting a divorce, separation, or annulment, you can request an Order of Protection from the Supreme Court at any time before the trial or settlement is final. Discuss your need for an Order of Protection with your lawyer. An advantage to having an Order of Protection from Supreme Court is that when it is attached to a divorce order, the Order of Protection is valid for the duration of the divorce. However, having changes made to a Supreme Court Order of Protection can be very time consuming and costly. It is important to request that if you need the Order of Protection to be modified in the future, it can be done in Family Court.
