The Civil Division's neighborhood offices and the Volunteer Division represent poor persons in civil matters such as: landlord/tenant; matrimonial; family law, including adoptions, guardianships and custody proceedings; consumer matters; corporate non-profit matters; community development; Article 78 proceedings; appeals; impact litigation; and administrative proceedings before the Social Security Administration, Department of Social Services, Department of Labor and New York City Housing Authority. Projects at the neighborhood offices and at the city-wide units of the Civil Division may focus on client groups with specialized problems, such as the elderly, persons with AIDS, homeless families, immigrants, battered spouses, the disabled, and issues relating to community-based organizations.
